Nate Morgan Locke grew up in Narnia. Literally. His childhood home was named after the world-through-the-wardrobe.

This is probably the fact that makes most sense of him becoming the “Reformed Mythologist”: he grew up in a dynamic evangelical Christian home where the Bible was taught and the imagination was an essential part of God’s plan for humanity.

“God is mythopoeic,” Lewis wrote in Myth Became Fact, “we are mythopathic.” We were created by a storyteller to respond to storytelling.

Nate’s education focussed on this theme. Narnia is filled with books. His teenage years were largely spent on the stage. His first degree was in English Literature and Drama from Queen Mary’s College, London.

After university came marriage (to Cat in 2005), and then work for All Souls, Langham Place; the All Souls Clubhouse; and Christianity Explored Ministries (CEM). His first decade in ministry was spent writing Holiday Bible Clubs for children and evangelistic videos (SOUL) for teenagers. He earned a Master’s degree in Theology from King’s College, London. Nate and Cat then had James and Lily (in 2010 and 2012).

And then a family move to Bath, to St Bart’s Church, as Children’s, Youth and Families Minister. The work with CEM continued. Life Explored in 2016, Discipleship Explored 2017. Always telling stories. Always telling the same story.

Then the Morgan Lockes moved to America. Nate earned an MDiv from Westminster Seminary, Philadelphia - how else to put the “Reformed” in Reformed Mythologist? Amongst other studies, he became an expert in the theological substructure of the Toy Story trilogy.

And in 2021 a move back to Britain, to the seaside town of Eastbourne, to work at Speak Life. More storytelling. More evangelism. More training. More podcasts. More videos.

And now, five years later, he’s moved back to Narnia to do the Reformed Mythologist thing full time. He’s still keen to tell stories. To tell the story. He’s available to tell that story to you. Get in touch.
